DC vs KKR: Blog | Scorecard
Delhi Capitals skipper Shreyas Iyer (Player of the Match):“It is really difficult to defend here. It has been such an amazing tournament, especially in Sharjah. It is always a thrill to play at this ground, the last time I played here was in the under-19s. Winning the match was the icing on the cake. It was really necessary for me to take time at the start which I did in the earlier games as well. It was the right time for me to take on the bowlers and then rotate strike as well after that. Luckily it worked out for me. I know the hard work and the smart work I have put in through my gym sessions, so I wouldn’t say I am a very gifted player. Really satisfield with the way everyone stepped up. Unfortunate to lose Mishra in the middle when he was spinning the ball really well. Anything could happen, it is a funny game is T20s and especially here in Sharjah. We really have a good platform and we have to be insatiable with our work ethics and keep getting better game after game.”
Delhi Capitals pacer Anrich Nortje:“There was a little bit of dew. Myself and KG tried to get a few to go through. We did it at the start. It got a little bit tough in the end, the ball was coming on nicely. Proud the guys pulled it through. We had different plans, try to change it up, not go with the same thing over and over. Luckily we got him out. Some balls grip, one gripped and we got the wicket. It’s great bowling with him (Rabada), really enjoyed it. Nice to be in the same team with him.”
KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik after the match: “The way the boys batted is something I am really proud of, we kept fighting till the end which is the nature of our team. Really happy with the effort we put in today. Maybe in between 10-13 we didn’t get many boundaries, we lost a couple of wickets as well which sets you back in such run chases. To be honest, a couple more sixes and we would have crossed the line, we wouldn’t be talking about the lengths. I thought it was a hard wicket to bowl on and the bowlers did a fabulous job, maybe 10 runs too many but it’s okay. We trust him and believe he is the best in the business, we want to give him enough time to create an impact on the game and that’s something we want to encourage. I haven’t thought about it (making the change at the top) but maybe after this game I will sit down with the coaching staff.. We still believe in Narine and whenever he gets going he gets us off to a great start.”

Shreyas Iyer (88* off 38 balls; 6x6s & 7x4s):“Relief getting this knock. Getting a few starts in the previous game, I wanted to convert this one. Definitely over par on this wicket, but can’t be satisfied. Learned that you can’t keep bowling one line and length. Have to be consistent with variations. Wicket will get slower and slower now. Just wanted an initial start which I mostly get. And then wanted to isolate. Hopefully I keep the momentum going. Fielders have to put in a lot of effort and save twos. Anything that’s mistimed is going over the boundary line. Have to be consistent in the field.”

TOSS | Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik wins the toss, opts to bowl against Delhi Capitals.
Captains at the toss:
Shreyas Iyer:“Would’ve also looked to bowl considering the dew. Wicket looks amazing. Happy to bat as well. Have talked about it. Have got slow starts in the last few games. Important we don’t lose wickets in pp. Have batsmen who can come in the later half and cover up. Ashwin in for Axar. Harshal in for Ishant. They have left-handers. Harshal gives batting down the order.”
Dinesh Karthik:“Going to bowl first. Maybe a little bit to do with the dew. Both games so far have gone with the bowling team. We’re on the right path. Instead of Kuldeep, we have Rahul Tripathi. Wanted to add depth to our batting. This is like every Indian ground we play on. Nothing new.”

“It is the most amazing pitch. It is absolutely beautiful; a batsman’s paradise. It is going to be key for the fast bowling to get it right at the end. They have got to get their yorkers right. The standard of bowling hasn’t been the standard you would expect. With the dew factor here, it will be very difficult to defend.” – Kevin Pietersen and Michael Slater
