Calcutta University would be conducting the terminal semester or final year exams for UG, PG students between October 1-18, 2020, the results of which would be declared on October 31, 2020, Vice-Chancellor Sonali Chakraborty Banerjee said. This year the question papers would be provided to the students through online medium, that is, through emails or WhatsApp.
“Students of the undergraduate and postgraduate level will take the exams during the period and the results will be published by October 31, the VC said.
“Questions will be sent to those who cannot appear for online exams via email and WhatsApp and have to submit the answers in hard copy to his/her respective institution after 24 hours,” Chakraborty added.
In the exams, all students would be given twenty-four hours time to complete and submit the answer sheets by scanning their them and submitting them also through WhatsApp to their respective colleges.
In case any student is unable to access online exams, they are allowed by the varsity to submit answer scripts physically at the college.
For Undergraduate students, the answer sheets would be evaluated by teachers of the same institute, unlike external evaluation previously conducted. The West Bengal government had recently said the final semester exams will have to be conducted by universities between October 1 and 18 and the results will have to be published by October 31. “The earlier decision of the university senate for evaluation based on 80-20 ratio (previous semester performance and internal assessment) will not be valid any more,” the VC informed.
