West Bengal Kolkata lockdown news Coronavirus updates: More than 2000 people were detained or arrested in West Bengal, including 886 in the capital Kolkata, for flouting norms during the first day of statewide bi-weekly lockdown enforced by the Mamata Banerjee government. The same lockdown measures will be adopted on Saturday as well to break the chain of coronavirus infection, the officials said. Meanwhile, city-wise and containment zone-wise lockdowns are underway. A separate total lockdown has been announced in a number of civic body areas in several districts. Notably, Banks, Post Offices, and ration shops are not allowed to open in the state on July 25 i.e Saturday and July 29 i.e Wednesday.

West Bengal has recorded 2,436 new Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. Total Coronavirus cases and COVID19 deaths in West Bengal are 51,757 and 1,225. In a positive sign, Jhargram district did not record a single case. In the last 24 hours, most cases have been recorded from Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Paschim Bardhaman, and Darjeeling. Most numbers of COVID19 deaths have been reported from Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, and South 24 Parganas.

Kolkata West Bengal lockdown dates days circular notification rules

The Mamata Banerjee government has said that a statewide total lockdown was enforced on Thursday. A similar lockdown will be imposed on July 25 (Saturday) and July 29 (Wednesday) from 6 am to 10 pm on each day.

Banks, Post offices, and Ration Shops are not allowed to open. Petrol pumps will remain open but vehicles allowed during the bi-weekly lockdown will get fuel.

Factories and construction works where labourers stay on-site will also be allowed to function on the lockdown days.

Norms of physical distancing, wearing of masks, health and hygiene protocol must be strictly adhered to at all times, a government order said.

A total lockdown will be enforced in Katwa municipality in Purba Bardhaman starting from Saturday. The Lockdown will remain effective till July 29.

A lockdown has been imposed in the Bardhaman municipality for 7 days starting from Wednesday. Markets are closed, transportation is not available. Only emergency services are allowed to remain operational. Fish market and vegetable mandis will remain open till 11 am during this lockdown period.

Baranagore, a municipality of North 24 Parganas district, has been placed under total lockdown 7 days from Wednesday

A total lockdown will be enforced in Barasat, a municipality of North 24 Parganas district, from July 25 to July 31.

A lockdown has been enforced North 24 Parganas’ Barrackpore municipality from July 23 to July 30.

A lockdown has been announced six prominent regions in Birbhum district July 24 to July 31.

As per the guidelines issued by the Mamata Banerjee government, the Containment zone-wise lockdown, which began on July 9, will continue till continue July 31.

The city-wise lockdown in the state, which began on July 15, will also remain effective.

During the bi-weekly total lockdown, strict curbs will be imposed from 6 am to 10 pm.

During the bi-weekly total lockdown, people’s movement, apart from emergency purposes, will be restricted from 10 pm to 5 am.

The government and private offices,  industrial units will remain closed. Private transportation won’t be allowed.

Crowded markets will remain closed.

Health workers, persons employed in emergency services will be allowed to ply on private and personal vehicles.

Medical shops, courts, fire-brigade will continue to operate.

Inter-state goods transportation, e-commerce will be allowed.

Restaurants, hotels can operate with home delivery options.
