17-year-old girl allegedly raped at New Town in Kolkata – Times of India

KOLKATA: A 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man, who had claimed himself to be a friend of a close relative, at a deserted under construction building in New Town on Saturday night. Probing into the case, police arrested the 21-year-old accused person on Sunday.
Police said, the woman has complained that while she was returning home from a friend’s place near City Centre II, she met the man on bike, who claimed himself to be a friend of his brother-in-law and proposed to drop her home. The woman alleged that the man stopped near the construction site at Akanksha crossing, made her drink spiked liquor and after she had passed out, the man raped her, following which he left the place on his motorbike.
The woman was allegedly spotted crying on the road by some motorists who called the Eco Park police station, the police rescued her and took her to the police station. Her parents were informed and later based on her complaint, police started a probe and arrested the man from his home at Nababpur in New Town in the early hours of Sunday.
