The high court on Thursday expressed dissatisfaction with the report filed by the Bengal government on the steps taken to conduct rapid coronavirus tests and to ensure the safety of doctors and other frontline heath workers.
As the government filed the report in a sealed cover, its contents were not known.
A division bench of Chief Justice T.B.N. Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee asked state advocate-general Kishore Datta to file a fresh report on Friday stating whether the government was following WHO guidelines on tests and the safety of health employees.
On a petition filed by doctor and CPM leader Fuad Halim, the court had last week issued an order asking the government to file a report.
Appearing for Halim, senior advocate Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharyya on Thursday told the court that the state government had failed to conduct rapid tests in hotspots.
