*Veggie supply picks up, grocery in doldrums
Even though supply of vegetables managed to weather teething issues and somewhat stabilised on Friday, shortage of staples and grocery has left buyers in the lurch. Only a handful of grocery stores opened on Friday, only to be swarmed by customers. Though store keepers tried to ration the items, most of them ran out of stock by late morning.
*West Bengal government takes steps to cure supply hiccups
The Bengal government has taken a slew of measures to remove bottlenecks in handling and transport of essential commodities from the Posta wholesale market. Chief minister Mamata Banerjee believes these measures will help restore the supply chain from Monday.
