Kolkata lockdown: Birth, death certificate counters shut at civic headquarters – Times of India

Kolkata News

KOLKATA: The KMC on Monday struggled to keep its health department operational for the citizens in the wake of the lockdown announced by the state to fight spread of coronavirus.
Sources in the health department confirmed that due to staff shortage, the civic body could not open the birth and death certificate counters at the civic headquarters on Monday. The civic top brass will now accept applications for issuance of birth/death certificates through ‘drop boxes’.
The KMC also found it difficult to keep its health clinics open due to manpower shortage.
Deputy mayor Atin Ghosh held a meeting with senior health department officials to chalk out a plan to get out of the impending crisis.
